JEMS (Judaic Education Modules) for Pre-K through 6th Grade

​

  • 1st & 2nd Grade (Aleph and Bet):  Learning the basic values of Judaism, simple prayers, and introduction to the Jewish holidays through Torah stories, art, music, and movement. 

  • 3rd Grade (Gimel): Deeper exploration of Jewish values from Torah stories. Students begin learning Hebrew letters and writing. Focusing on active participation in mitzvot, and basic blessings.

  • 4th & 5th Grade (Dalet and Hey): Focus on Jewish life cycle events, Bible Stories, Israel, and Jewish history. Students begin leading parts of the T'fillah (prayer) service, students are exposed to some conversational Hebrew, and participate in a Jewish heroes project.

  • 6th Grade): Jewish values in action, deeper lessons from the Tanakh (Jewish Bible), History of Israel and the year-end goal of knowing the basic T’fillah prayers (including Shabbat prayers, Havdallah, Shema, Ve’ahavta, and Kaddish.

  • B’nai Mitzvah Year 2026: (could be 6th or 7th grade) B’nai Mitzvah preparation includes 20 hours of private tutoring, school tuition, Better Together Teen Program, and B’nai Mitzvah service.  In addition, we will do deep dives into Jewish values and ethics, mentorship for a Mitzvah Project.​​

Pre-K & K: Wednesdays, 5:00–6:00 pm

1st & 2nd Grade: Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm, Located at VOS

3rd Grade: Wednesdays 4:00-6:00pm, Located at VOS ​

4th Grade: Wednesdays 4:00-6:00pm, Located at VOS 

 

5th Grade: Wednesdays 4:00-6:00pm, Located at VOS

 

6th Grade: Wednesdays 4:00-6:00pm, Located at VOS

Classes are structured as follows:

Judaic Learning

  • Teacher-facilitated, student-centered approach

  • Experiential learning opportunities

  • Family learning opportunities

  • Community gatherings including Shabbat and holiday celebrations, and community service events

 

Hebrew Learning

  • Hebrew reading

  • Jewish Life Vocabulary

  • Hebrew songs and prayers

  • B'nai Mitzvah Prep
