Who We Are:
Our Philosophy

Valley Outreach Synagogue (VOS) is a dynamic, warm, inclusive community dedicated to creating meaningful Jewish experiences. Our JEWELS (Jewish Experiences, Wisdom, Ethics, Language, and Service) Program is the heart of our educational mission. We strive to create a Kehillah Kedoshah (a holy community) built on the following principles:

  • Living Judaism: We believe in active, experiential learning that brings Judaism off the page and into our students' hearts and lives.

  • L'dor V'dor (From Generation to Generation): We aim to transmit the beauty and wisdom of our heritage while empowering students to find their own place in the continuing story of the Jewish people.

  • Inclusivity and Respect (Kavod): We welcome and celebrate students of all backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles, believing that our diversity is our strength.

  • Partnership with Families: We see education as a collaboration between our educators and our families, working together to nurture a strong Jewish identity and sense of Peoplehood.

  • Commitment to Core Values: We are a community of learners, thinkers, and doers, committed to the values of Torah (learning), Avodah (worship and work), and G'milut Chasadim (acts of loving-kindness).

In addition, our commitment to you is this:

The world is incredibly uncertain. If we’ve learned anything from the most recent rise in antisemitism, it is that anything can happen.  Hebrew School and the synagogue are the last bastion of unconditional communal love. It is a place where hope is taught, and where spiritual health is the top priority. We will help build an inner scaffolding of resilience, love, self-respect and compassion that is sourced in our Jewish texts and traditions in your child(ren) because we believe that it is communal and spiritual health that is going to anchor and sustain our children throughout their lives.
